Test System SPT for testing of separator, especially for blow-by oil mist separators
The Oil Separator Test Rig SPT 140 is designed for automated testing procedures in order to obtain results regarding flow regimes and gravimetric and fractional particle removal efficiency.
Crankcase ventilation systems are using oil separators in order to reduce oil consumption and even more important nowadays to reduce final emission rates of the engine. Catalysts can also be adversely affected by burned oil residuals in the exhaust. Crankcase ventilation systems CCV are optimized by measurements of:
An increasing number of oil separator manufacturers are now using special test benches like the SPT 140 to study the performance and to optimize separators design by simulating the above parameters. The sample is tested in over and under pressure mode with an especially conditioned aerosol (mass flow rate, temperature). The environment of the sample is tempered as well. The separated and passed oil is measured depending on volume flow rate. The measurement is done gravimetric with an absolute filter. The oil mass leaked from the separator is detected online. Likewise the leakage of the oil drain can be measured. The test rig simulates typical application of oil mist separators. Recording the pressure regulation curve is made by measuring the “pressure in the crankcase ventilation system ” versus “air intake pressure” at several volume flow rates. The fractional particle removal efficiency has also become an important parameter in recent studies.
PAF 113 Test System for both particle separation and gas absorption/desorption of of air filters for passenger compartments (DIN 71460-1/2, ISO 11155-1/2)
The PAF 113 test system combined the advantages of PAF 111 particle test system and PAF 112 gas testing system. It povides a maximum of paramater testing for cabin air filters.
The PAF 112 Filter Test System for gas adsorption/desorption of air filters for passenger compartments (DIN 71460-2, ISO 11155-2)
The PAF 112 Adsorption Test Stand for air filters for passenger compartments is used for quantification of adsorption capacity or desorption behaviour of filters.
The design of the PAF 112 Adsorption Test Stand, the test procedure and data acquisition have been based on the draft standard DIN 71460-2 and ISO 11155-2 standard for measuring the dynamic gas adsorption.
The test section and associated ductwork are fabricated from stainless steel. Different sizes of filter media samples and elements can be tested and are mounted in a special adapter. A window in front of the test section allows visual observation of the sample during the test. A pair of mass flow controllers is used for dosing gaseous components from gas cylinders and a new, sophisticated, dosing unit for liquid gas components has been developed specifically for this application. This is based on evaporation of a droplet spray atomized by means of a two-stream nozzle fed from a µl-dosing pump. The gas concentration can be measured downstream of the filter. An exhaust system bypassing the test channel facilitates maintaining a very stable gas dosing.
Test according to standards DIN 71460-1 and ISO/TS 11155-1 can be carried out using Topas Particle Filtration Test Rig PAF 111.
For filter tests both according to standards DIN 71460-1, ISO/TS 11155-1 and E DIN 71460-2, ISO 11155-2 Topas has designed filter test rig PAF 113 combining all features of test rigs PAF 111 and PAF 112.
PAF 111 test system for testing particle separation of air filters for passenger compartments (DIN 71460-1, ISO/TS 11155-1)
With the test system for cabin air filters acc. to DIN 71460-1 (particle filtration) all relevant filter performance parameters such as differential pressure drop, gravimetric or fractional filtration efficiency and dust holding capacity are determined.
The setup and configuration of the test system as well as the required test procedures are described in the standards DIN 71460-1 and ISO/TS 11155-1 for motor vehicle passenger compartment particle filtration.
Tests acc. to standards DIN 71460-2 and ISO 11155-2 can be carried out using PAF 112 test system for adsorptive cabin air filters.
For filter tests acc. to standards DIN 71460-1, ISO/TS 11155-1 and DIN 71460-2, ISO 11155-2 Topas has designed PAF 113 filter test system combining all features of test systems PAF 111 and PAF 112.
MBP 116 Test System for multiple parameter testing at filter media, space-saving design by vertical-orientated flow channel
Performance of filter media is essentially defined by parameters such as differential pressure, gravimetric filtration efficiency and dust holding capacity.
The Topas Manual Filter Media Test System MBP 116 can be applied to determine these filter parameters at flat sheet materials. This test bench has been designed as universal testing equipment. It combines a simple and robust setup with a manual and therefore cost efficient handling and operation. Because of its vertical test channel setup it is especially suitable for the testing of filter media according to ISO 5011.
Test System FST 144 for the characterisation of the air flow velocity profile of components (e.g. tubes, filters)
At the FST 144 the air flow velocities between 1-40 m/s and turbulences in the outlet of flowed through units under test can be measured.
Through this, a good position for flow velocity measuring devices (for example MAFs) in flowed through parts (for example motor inlet filters) can be found easier, taking into consideration a range of air flow rates. The data created by the flow scanner can also be used to check models for flow simulation.
