About Us

Who We Are

Particle Technology was founded in 1989 by Ron Buxton, BSc, for the production of Test Dusts alongside consumables for archival aids. Greg Spicer, M.Eng, joined in 2003 as a
post-graduate, he began work on building the Sand and Dust Testing facility. Cleanliness Testing followed soon after and, more recently, we became the first UK laboratory to gain accreditation for Filter Testing to EN779:2012 and ISO 16890. Now, as Managing Director, Greg heads up a team of 18 employees with Sue Gregory, Financial Director, operating at the forefront of product reliability, supplying and supporting customers all over the world.

Sue joined Particle Technology in November 2003 as a Sales Assistant after leaving the Finance department at Northern Foods, Uttoxeter. Sue went on to become office manager in 2005 giving her an immense knowledge of the financial and administrative side of the business. This meant that Ron felt safe in the knowledge that Sue as Financial Director, working alongside Greg could, together, grow and nurture the business which he began.

All work is carried out in our modern facilities, which include a production area for Test Dust, clean room for Cleanliness Testing to ISO 16232 / VDA 19, laboratories for Particle Identification, and dedicated facilities for Sand and Dust Testing, one of which is the largest in the UK.
