AFC 131 Test System for characterisation of cleanable filter media acc. VDI 3926-2
Testing of filter media is important for the development and optimisation of filter materials as well as for quality assurance during the production process.
Most interesting parameters for filter media characterisation are:
For these tasks Topas developed the AFC 131 Filter Media Test System which facilitates filter tests in accordance with guideline VDI 3926 exemplary embodiment 2 and ASTM D6830-02, but can also be used for other tests. Separation efficiency and dust loading tests on basis of the general requirements of ISO 16890, EN 779, DIN 71460-1, ISO/TS 11155-1 and ISO 5011 can be performed in small scale.Due to its compact and lightweight design this test rig can be used in the laboratory.
ABP 115 test system for testing industrial filters and engine air filters, for ISO 5011
The ABP 115 engine filter test system performs tests according to standard ISO 5011 (test of inlet air cleaning filters for combustion engines and industrial machinery).
Results are:
LDP 190 diesel filter differential pressure test system according to ISO 4020/6.3
The LDP 190 was developed for testing diesel fuel filters in accordance with ISO 4020/6.3, as well as for checking the tightness of valves. In addition to diesel fuel, diesel substitutes can also be used as the test medium.
A key parameter for characterizing diesel fuel filters is the differential pressure at a specified flow rate. For testing, pressure, flow rate, and temperature of the test medium can be precisely controlled and varied. This enables tests over a wide range of parameters and allows realistic simulation of the diverse operating conditions and environments of diesel-powered machinery. By operating the LDP 190 with different liquids, it is possible to conduct tests on other liquid filters.
Test System GTS 114 for testing air intake filter systems for rotary machinery (ISO 29461)
The test system GTS 114 for testing air intake filter systems for rotary machinery is based on the well-established ALF 114 filter test system for general air filters (ISO 16890) and extended to fulfil the specifications of ISO 29461.
The GTS 114 was developed with the aim of testing filters with different shapes (filter cartridges, cassette filter, filter with filter bags and plane filter media) using varying test aerosols (salt, oil) under adjustable air conditions (air humidity, temperature) within the test duct. By using the test system the following filter characteristics can be determined: differential pressure curves, dust holding capacity, gravimetric efficiency, fractional efficiency, salt removal efficiency (ISO/AWI 29461-4) and water endurance (ISO 29461-2).
FCT 113 test system for fuel cell air intake filters
The test system FCT 113 for testing combination filters is based on established test system PAF 113. Air filter testing can be done with various types of particle-based test aerosols as well as different reference test gases.
The FCT 113 Fuel Cell Air Intake Filter Test System serves for testing the inlet filters of fuel cells by particles and gases. The test duct and the flow rate unit are upscaled to handle bigger filter dimensions and higher flow rates compared to the original ISO 11155 requirements.
The tests are performed with different test aerosols (salt, oil) and test gases. Filter elements of different designs as well as filter media can be placed into the test duct via a filter adapter. The following filter characteristics can be determined: differential pressure curves, dust loading and fractional efficiency in close accordance to ISO 11155-1 (DIN 71460-1), adsorption tests in close accordance to ISO 11155-2 (DIN 71460-2), recording of adsorption and desorption curves.
AFS 152/A Test System for automated scan testing of HEPA and ULPA filters according to ISO 29463-4 (EN 1822-4) and ISO 29463-5 (EN 1822-5)
High efficiency EPA, HEPA, and ULPA particle filters are used in applications where clean, controlled air free of even the smallest particles is required to protect people, products, and processes. To ensure that the air filter achieves the desired performance, every HEPA and ULPA filter should be tested and certified in accordance with ISO 29463 or EN 1822.
Topas GmbH has developed an automatic HEPA/ULPA filter scanner, the AFS 152/A, which covers Parts 3, 4, and 5 of ISO 29463 and EN 1822. The main application of the AFS 152/A is the automatic scanning of panel filters in accordance with ISO 29463-4. Using this scanning method, filters are specifically checked for leaks while simultaneously determining local efficiencies. By summing the local efficiencies, the integral efficiency of the filter can also be determined. For filter designs that cannot be scanned, such as compact filters, a special hood is used to reliably measure the integral efficiency in accordance with ISO 29463-5. Alternatively, the AFS 151 Robot HEPA/ULPA filter scanner enables the scanning of three-dimensional filter elements.
