Particle Technology are celebrating 30 years in business this week.

Ron Buxton, BSc, founded the business in 1989. Ron was working as a technician at Loughborough University which was then a centre for Particle Science. Ron was tasked with sourcing a dust which could be used for testing military vehicles, it transpired that this was only available as an import from the US – this simply would not do for Ron and he decided to recreate the dust himself – from there Particle Technology sprang into life! Who would have thought there was such a market for dust! Test dust production is now a major part of our business, manufacturing over 40 types of dust/sand used for filter testing, dust & sand testing and contaminated fuel tests – bespoke products are also available.
Sadly Ron passed away in 2013 leaving the business in the capable hands of managing director Greg Spicer, M.Eng, who also studied at Loughborough University and Sue Gregory, Financial Director.

Greg also studied at Loughborough University, and worked alongside Ron developing the cleanliness testing and sand/dust testing side of the business which continue to grow. Filter testing is a more recent achievement with Particle Technology being the only company in the UK to be able to offer a fully UKAS accredited service of ISO 16890 Air filter testing.
